The Art of Tea is a small business based in Tasmania, Australia. We were established in 2000, and are now one of the most long-established tea companies in Australia!
From humble beginnings, the Art of Tea began selling just 12 different varieties of tea at Salamanca Market, in Hobart, Tasmania every Saturday. The business quickly grew, as locals and people travelling from all over Australia and beyond were keen to enjoy quality loose leaf tea.
The Art of Tea now has over 130 tea & herbal varieties available! We have a wide range of the well-loved classic black teas. With best selling breakfast teas, as well as single estate black teas from Sri Lanka, India and also Australia tea growers. Our smokey Lapsang Souchong remains a firm favourite. Our Chai tea selection and flavoured black teas remain popular year in and year out, and our Mount Wellington Tea named after our local mountain kunanyi is a delightful addition to every pantry. Did you know that we stock Tasmanian grown teas? From the most southerly tea plantation in Australia, and indeed the world we love the Tasmanian grown teas. As Art of Tea began at Salamanca Market we have our best selling flavoured green tea named after this famous Market. We are currently taking a break from our weekly market stall but all your favourite teas are available here online or at our Kingston Shop. We love to chat with locals and tourists who visit our shop in Kingston and help customers choose teas for enjoyment and also health benefits like sleep and weight loss. Not to mention we stock a range of Tasmanian grown teas, and Australian teas that we use in blends.
If you live locally you can also bring your clean tea caddy in for a refill. We love to reduce the use of packaging by filling your special tea tins, or we can reuse your bulk bag too.
Our direct sales is what the business was founded on and we still love having a chat about green tea, black tea, rooibos or even oolongs, but we know not everyone can make it to Tasmania so we have made shopping easy and online here, sending you all your favourites teas.
The Art of Tea is also a supplier of our uniquely packaged, quality loose leaf, teas to cafes, restaurants, providores, & hamper businesses Australia wide.
At the Art of Tea, we are passionate about improving health and wellbeing. As such we seek the highest quality ingredients for all our herbal range, as well as our teas. In 2019 we included as many organically sourced ingredients as possible for the herbal blends, now making most of them 100% organic. We know that many people are seeking caffeine free tea, read our article on this here
Rooibos (South African red bush pronounced roy-boss) is increasing in popularity, as it is naturally caffeine free and packed with 37 antioxidants, low tannins and can provide a wide range of health benefits. We see red as the new black and encourage our customers to try this great beverage. This is especially good choice for children, and after 3pm as there is no caffeine to disrupt sleep. See our article on rooibos here .
Keen to see Tasmanians and visitors enjoy a decent cup of tea wherever they travel a great number of Tasmanian cafes and restaurants are serving our tea. Thank goodness you say, when you see that you will be served a good pot of tea!
All of our teas are hand packed with care and we are confident that each box of tea goes out to the customer beautifully packaged and ready to be enjoyed!
