In the mid 1970’s Samantha Brown and her parents arrived in Tasmania to start a new life. Far, far away from her friends and extended family, she did her best to fit into the Australian culture by dimming her British accent and eating vegemite on toast, but, the daily habit of drinking leaf tea served from a pot was never lost.
After growing up on a farm on the NW coast of Tasmania, then studying (B.Sc) and working professionally as a senior Environmental Scientist, Samantha was still drinking a lot of tea and realised it was one thing in her day that always gave her a sense of calm and a time to reflect, including upon her choice of career!
In 2007 whilst on maternity leave, the Art of Tea stall at Salamanca Market was purchased and her love of leaf tea, the Market, and being able to make a real difference to people’s health and wellbeing began. This was indeed the perfect brew for Samantha, all whilst managing a young baby!
Knowing how important a good cup of tea can be to connect friends and family as well as helping to reduce stress, improve sleep, digestion, breastfeeding, get going in the mornings and everything in between, is why Samantha has been motivated to keep growing the artisan tea business, now 22 years old.
The Art of Tea is a proudly owned Tasmanian business that now employs 8 local people to hand blend and pack all 150 varieties of tea that we ship Australia-wide, for your everyday health and enjoyment.
